Each of your hair follicles is in one of 3 stages of growth at any given time. The "active growth" (anagen) phase, "regressive" (categen) phase, and "resting" (telogen) phase.
The laser is most effective at disabling "actively growing" hairs during treatment. It is during the anagen that the hair shaft contains the greatest abundance of melanin, the target of the laser light. The length of the growth cycles also varies slightly by body area. Your treatment plan will be customized to obtain optimal results.
LightSheerâ„¢ is the gold standard in laser hair removal. This system features two optimal wavelength 800nm diode hair removal systems on one versatile platform, vacuum-assist technology, and intuitive touchscreens with recommended treatment settings and customizable presets. The spot size has significantly increased from 9 x 9 mm to 22 x 35 mm, enabling treatment of backs and legs comfortably in only 15 minutes, without anesthetics or gel. High speed LightSheer treats with 1/10 the pulses, reducing treatment times up to 75% for ultimate practice differentiation.
Both men and women of all skin colors can now get laser hair removal almost everywhere on their bodies to have unwanted hair removed. At our centre, it is commonly done on hairline, eyebrow, top of the nose, lip, chin, ear lobe, shoulders, back, underarm, abdomen, buttocks, brazilian, bikini lines, thighs, face, neck, breast, arms, legs, hands, and toes.
Each pulse, which lasts less than a second, produces a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a quick, light pinch.
Traditional hair removal techniques, such as shaving, plucking and waxing, provide only temporary hair removal. Until now, the only long-lasting hair removal solution has been electrolysis, which is time-consuming and is usually limited to small areas as each hair is treated individually. Laser hair removal is non-invasive, and safely removes unwanted body hair without damaging the delicate pores and structures of the skin. Facial and bikini area sessions are usually completed very efficiently. For example, laser on the bikini area takes less than 3 minutes; legs and larger areas can take longer. One significant advantage of laser hair removal treatment is that it affects a large number of hair follicles at once resulting in quick, more permanent results. As a general rule, several treatments will be required and you can expect to see a 10% - 30% reduction in hair growth after every treatment depending on the person.
Most people need at least 6-8 initial treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart. This is because hair grows in 3 phases and is killed in the first "anagen" active growing phase. Several treatments are needed to target ALL hair in the active growth phase. Approximately 4-8 weeks after every treatment, additional treatment is required to eliminate the hairs that came out of the dormant phase and are now active. After 6-8 treatments or so, patients should experience a considerable percentage of hair reduction. Depending upon hair type and genetic factors, some clients may require additional treatments beyond these initial treatments. If it seems like the treatments are not working after 6-8 treatments, patients should look into possible underlying reasons.
During the procedure, the deep skin layers are gradually heated, while the skin surface remains around 40o C(hot shower temperature). Your skin temperature will be constantly monitored. Depending on the size of the treated area, treatment may take between 1 - 20 minutes. For instance around 1 minute for a small area while up to 20 minutes for a large area. The treatment is relaxing, but with little pain.
